About The Project

Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, and produced by Bhardwaj and Siddharth Roy Kapur, Haider is an Indian crime-drama based on William Shakespeare’s tragedy – Hamlet. The story follows Haider, the lead protagonist of the film, who is searching for his missing father during the Kashmir conflict in 1995.

Haider grossed a total of INR 98.17 crores at the box office worldwide. The film garnered praise and appreciation for its exceptional direction, performances, music and production design and now has an assemblage of 36 awards and over 50 nominations to its name.

The film won 5 awards at the 62nd National Film Awards, which was the most at that ceremony. It included the best screenplay, Best Music Direction, and Best Costume. At the 60th Filmfare Awards, Shahid Kapoor, Kay Kay Menon, and Tabu bagged the awards for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress respectively. Among others, Haider won 9 awards at the 16th Annual International Indian Film Academy Awards, including Best Makeup.
